Vita

Sina Krol completed her training at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in 2016 with a diploma in Art Technology, Conservation and Restoration of Art and Cultural Assets in 2016. Prior to this, she had finished a yearlong pre-study internship at the Saxon State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments in Dresden. Several internships during her studies in collections and at the Academy of Fine Arts gave her further insights into the work of a conservator.

After working as a freelance Conservator for several years, she had the opportunity to do a two-year traineeship at the Dresden State Art Collections from 2018 to 2020, an eventful period during which the Old Masters and the Skulpturensammlung up to 1800 were reinstalled and reopened. Since 2023 she works part-time in the Gemäldegalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Also she is part of an interdisciplinary research project for recording and examining the late medieval wooden sculptures and panel paintings in the UNESCO-World-Heritage “Joint Protection and Documentation of the Cultural Heritage of the Ore Mountains”.

During the past years, she was not only able to restore several works of art, but as a conservator of art she got to know museum structures and working methods in a large collection, such as preparing condition reports, doing international courier travels, installing large and heavy objects, monitoring the climate or examine paintings and sculptures with non-visible radiation.

Sina Krol is currently based in Leipzig as a Freelance Conservator for paintings, frames and sculptures.
